Hesston Public Library

1. Adults & teens, come to game night on Friday! You need at least one last hurrah before school starts, right? www.facebook.com/events/2128681174041419/
2. Our games will be moving away from the display table next week. Never fear: their new home will be in the Specialty section, by the fishing poles & pickleball sets (What? The library has fishing poles and pickleball sets? Yes, yes we do. You can check them out.).
3. In case you're feeling generous, or cleaning out your own game cabinet, here's what I (Emily) still wish we had: a.co/3DwpphP . Used copies are great, if they still have all the necessary pieces!Oh dear, one of our librarians has a problem! We have ALLLLLLL these fantastic new games at the library, and she has no one to play with. So we were thinking about starting Grown-Up Game Nights.
(Think about it....whole evenings that don't involve "Candy Land" or "Sorry" or breaking up fights about whose turn it was.)
But we'd like a little input from the community to get us started. Most importantly, if this is something that would interest you, what evening would work best? Obviously, we won't be able to catch everyone, but scheduling them when nobody can show up isn't a great plan, either. Also, would you prefer that it be just for adults, or is there interest in letting teens join us?

Everette Bradley ROCKS! ...

Barbeque Benefit coming up soon!

Don’t forget to get your buttons for the Library Benefit BBQ on June 11. The BBQ, catered and co-sponsored by Knackies of Inman, will feature your choice of barbeque chicken or beef brisket.

But a great meal isn’t all we’ve got planned! The evening will include both a silent and live auction, with lots of great items donated by Hesston and area businesses. Items donated for the auction include:

  • A one-year membership to the Hesston Wellness Center
  • A photograph from Shutterworks Photography
  • A sports bag from Brown Shoe Fit Co. in McPherson
  • A piece of antique furniture from Emma Creeks Antiques
  • Gift baskets from A Cut Above, the Wild Geranium, Lincoln Perk, Hesston True Value, Stone Creek Nursery, and GLC Realty.

Any business that would like to donate an item or gift certificate can contact the library.

Reservation buttons for the barbeque can be purchased for $1 at the library and other area businesses, with the meal by donation. (It’s so we can know how much food to prepare!) Matching funds up to $1,000 have been applied for from the Northeast Sedgwick Co. Chapter of Thrivent Financial for Lutherans, which means your donations will have an even greater impact!
